Entry for July 18, 2006 ![]() 10:07pm Day 3
We left the room at ~11:00 and went to Emerald Seas to meet up with the Owens'. Lori spent the day with Angie at the pool just kicking back. Sydney and I traveled to Lantana, FL and went out on a drift fishing boat with Louis, Eddie, Pat, Ben, Josh and Matt. What happens is a group of people fish off one side and the Captain puts the boat over a reef and drifts with the natural current. This keeps all the lines away from the boat and mostly untangled with everyone elses. This was Sydney's first fishing trip out onto the Atlantic and she was very excited as the trip began out the inlet. She noticed the change of water color as we left the intercoastal and the water seemed to be spilling into the inlet because tide was changing from low to high. She took to the fishing very easily as I caught two blue runners early into the trip. But she was not to be undone. Soon after, Sydney hooked into a nice Yellow Fin Snapper. She had to move to the front of the boat as she reeled in 90 feet of line. All the local regulars were cheering her on and she didn't give up. She caught it and was very tired after the long fight. I added my dinky little yellow fin to four others that were caught from our group and we enjoyed a small fish dinner supplemented by hamburgers, hotdogs and mac and cheese. No, Sydney didn't try any fish but it was delicious and she caught the biggest of all the fish in our group! The picture is of Sydney's catch and mine! 2006-07-19 02:26:48 GMT
